Germany week 33 Paris day 1

Germany week 33 Paris day 1
Dear all,
Well I am so late getting to this blog but want to share some of the pictures so a couple of  stories and an overview and pics.  Expect  more later.
Day 1 --We took the night train to Paris-- now this one we had booked along with the Venice so the girl talked us into just trying a chair.  Well let me tell you to go ahead and pony up the extra money and get the bed.  It was a very uncomfortable ride to Paris with all of us trying to get comfortable.  We also had two changes and about 2-3 minutes each to make the next train but we made it.
When you are traveling in Europe the biggest cost for the traveler are the transfers.  Getting to the hotel from the train, getting to the airport from the hotel, etc.  I find it best to stay right where I can walk.  At this point we are always staying walking distance from one of the hop on hop off buses.  Then the only transfer we have to pay is the first and last  getting to and from.  There are shuttles but I find it cheaper since you have to pay per person and then you still are not at the hotel when you take a shuttle that it is cheaper just to take a taxi.
The first day we found our hotel and we went to the Eiffel tower and to the Lourve.  We rode the whole way around on the hop on bus to see all of the sites.  It was great fun.  See pictures of the Eiffel tower and the Louvre etc.  We of course had to do the funny pictures of the Eiffel tower.
Gregg was impressed with the size of the Mona Lisa I think I had talked about how small it was for so long that he thought it was going to be the size of a stamp.
See pictures below-- enjoy day 1 Paris.
Hugs from Germany via Paris
Susan
